Double Fatality in June 2014 (UK) - Inquest and Media Reports

We live in a world where we are creating a culture of protecting the stupid. We shouldn't need to put railings round water to stop people falling in or worse be scared of legal action if we don't. People should be free to use a unit in any condition they wish. If they have done training...

What's going on here? IS this a mistake or Dirty Pool?????

I don't wonder sometimes if american's have actually been outside of US ... There are different time zones outside of east and west coast, different currencies (ie everything is not priced in US$) and different things cost different prices. Its a world that most of the world acknowledges and...

I'd rather have gas on me in water wishing it was on boat than other way around

No, not really. He is saying that if you have to bailout the O2 is useless till you get to 6m. I suspect there are many more cases of having to bailout than having a problem wiht O2. I choose to have more than enough bailout its a strategy - it doesn't make me an OC diver. I have been at...

Like for like - it is much easier to swim and scooter this rig than with 3s and and 11 as stage rigged bailout . As for size its 50mm wider than the JJ with 3s on side and the piggy backed 02 adds 20mm to profile (I have some of the 2s and then it doesn't add anything over the side of the...

I honestly can't see how it is different going to a deco gas on the side for the shallows (0-6m) compared to diving a RB with standard side slung BO bottles? I also don't see why folks are getting so worked up about the lack of being able to go to the necklace - its exactly the same as diving...

BOV feeds from Back gas on RB80. Plugging drive gas into RB80 is in a sense no different to the solenoid. There are only slight functional differences between BOV and necklace so I think its fine to leave it to diver choice (CE is a hurdle here)

How does RB80s BOV address this? THe BOV is fed from back gas so is no different to CCR with necklace or BOV (both Jarrod and Richard Lundgren both dive with BOVs on their CCRs)

A lot depends on circumstances ...calm seas and little current are easier to handle than heavy seas and lots of current for example. If I was concerned I'd have the 50 or 21/35 deployed, if I was less concerned I would have my hand on second stage and have this breathable gas on top and turned...

I did the first beta class (18mo ago) and watched a later class early last year and in both there was discussion and suggestions. Shallows is alway a dangerous area with hypoxic mixes so awareness is paramount and having access to a breathable gas (at start of gas that for me is usually 50% or...

What do you propose? Personally I always feel more comfortable with loads of back gas, shortening the stops to allow me to get up to the next gas could be a solution ... but now we are in the bailed out and lost deco gas scenerio ... very hard to solve wiht in water resources and I'd be...

300'/100m dive and I don't wanna end up ascending all the way to 70'/21m to do a switch I also need enough gas to get from 300'/100m to 190'/57m

    GUE CCR, It's OFFICIAL

The WKPP incident was a few more years ago than 4 IIRC and was caused by the FO2 drop and a delay (because of excessive aquatic vegetation) as well as hypoxic drive gas (I can't remember if the diver was on 190 or 300ft bottle - both becoming hypoxic very quickly on PSCR either way) It doesn't...

I can see from your post exactly why you're finding buoyancy more challenging and why every time you go back to OC it resets your ccr buoyancy. I am pretty sure I can see exactly what problems you would have with a midwater skills either OC or CCR

    GUE CCR, It's OFFICIAL

I don't find buoyancy on CCR any more easy or difficult than OC just different. As for switches and bottle rotations - I don't bother with those on CCR, generally , unless something has gone wrong ;) We are both discussing the same thing essentially - which are skills to ascend from (lets say)...

Mark - as per usual you have all these preconceived ideas formed from snippets of information you have picked up from various and usually out of date sources :) It would certainly not be my intent to beast you and mkae you look stupid. Tell you what Mark - we'll do two dives. One in T1 configuration (single bottle) and one in T2 (3 bottles) configuration and you can tell me afterwards about the lack of differences. I am sorry you learned nothing between 50 and 100m courses - this in my opinion is a massive failing of the...
