Ambient Pressure Diving Inspiration Vision and Classic Teardown

Please feel free to give feedback on this potential article wot I wrote for Clare/CCRX.

I'm pretty sure it's error free, but you never know ;-)

I've kept the pictures highish res and few in number - there are omissions, which I can fill by request.

Well... error free or not depends on how you've connected your manifold. Mine is connected to the Dil-side. Hint: last pic left side.:wave2:

Other than that - great job:yippee:

LOL, you're right, that needs fixing.

Feel free to claim your pint if you're passing through!

No plans going in that direction in the near future... unless of course it comes with a sole (meuniere) as the Projection SW :banana1:
Hint: in the very end...

Still a great reference article - Martin ows you more than one pint, imho.

With a whisky chaser!

Well written and illustrated. Much appreciated. Thanks Matt.

Thanks Peter. The only picture I couldn't readily find was a snap of the Mk1 Mixing Chamber. If one shows up it could be added. I may add one for the Classic Lid if anyone thinks it's useful. I'm a bit wary as those images are already 5mb!

Good write up.

Noticed that in the units shown the HP gauges are routed down the outside of the counter-lungs. I've route mine down the inside of the counter-lungs for which AP also provide Velcro tie-downs.

They are as supplied, that unit has never been dismantled. On the classic I would also have the SPG down the outside and would use the inside velcro for the handsets. On the Vision I don't use the inside at all, but as you say it can be reconfigured as desired.

I also, remember that when powering up the Classic handsets under-water (have done), it's a very good idea to select NO to calibration!

I've stuck with the warning not to turn both off underwater, if you only turn one off then you don't get the calibrate option. But your right, it's a training issue.

When in the Classic menu system, O2 is not been injected as electronics can only do one thing at once. If you didn't exit the menu yourself after 15 seconds of not touching the sliders, the system exited the menu for you so enabling O2 to be injected again. This isn't an issue on the Vision as it can both maintain set-point, change setting via the menu & compute deco all at the same time.

I've added that, thanks.

Cheers

Great job Matt with fantastic pictures and excellent comments - you didn't knock this up in 15 mins did you! If I remember today after my dive I will photograph and email you picture of my Mk1 Mixing Chamber from my Vision for completeness.

My only comment for consideration is your labelling of Vision handset read out which shows "Time To Surface" (TTS) as "stops" which is not 100% correct but I know what you mean.

Good job buddy and thanks for taking the time to do this to help others

Thanks Gar. No, it took longer than 15 minutes to forumify! LOL.

If you supply a High Res (you've got my e-mail I think) then I'll make a stylised-pair with the classic lid to complete the set. If you've time then one with and one without the chamber fitted would be good.

I've fixed the "stops" issue.

Cheers

Thanks Matt. Dive cancelled yesterday due to high winds so you will need to wait until next one before I have the unit in bits again. Wont be long as I like to get wet so prob get it done newxt weekend and emailed your way for inclusion.

Given the amount of extras you can get it may be worth having a section on customisation, as Inspo is one of the more customisable units.

i.e

5th cell holders
Intergrating dive computers to Classics
New Heads, N@90 and Hammerhead

etc

And my contribution towards editing, the buzzer is on a stalk, not a stork.

OK, when you have it.

136m on Air would be big balls. But sadly I did not go further than my shed for the picture in simulator mode.

:-)

My deepest actual dive was 130m on the Transylvania, which we dived 2 days on the trot at 300mins a pop - long days, 50nm off-shore, no tidal data so lots of looking-seeing-guessing involved.

Thanks, I've removed the random bird from the text!

I'm not a fiddler, so I didn't write-up about modifications. I'd be happy to include some pictures with links to the retailers if someone provides them?

Matt.
