    Starting off on a classic

No it didn't save you. You weren't checking your handsets because you had a HUD. If you had been checking your handsets you would've seen they were turned off.

    Myth busting - Scrubbers

How can the springs tension the o-ring without pushing the sorb ... which prevents settled sorb from moving around and arguably therefore packing the cannister?

    Rebreather fatalities paper is released

I have a PhD and worked as scientist for a number of years before I decided working for a living sucks. I published more than 25 papers in international journals. Reviewers (or other scientists) never ask to see the raw data - they look at the result summaries and analysis that you provide and...

you can register for mmsi number without a VHF license - Bristol Channel divers has some instructions on how to do it on their website. Pretty easy and quick to do (unless like me you can't remember your old off com login details LOL)

Impaired ventilation at depth due to gas density?

Humans are no different from mechanical motors - both are subject to the same forces. Nonetheless, I did say peak work was probably most important.

Impaired ventilation at depth due to gas density?

What goes up must come down? So if you exhale easily because the counter lung is above you its harder to inhale - total net is zero. I would think peak work (and the timing of that) is more important than total work of breathing over the whole cycle.

    Ratio deco for ccr?

I probably argued with you about 20x on YD about Ratio deco /deco on the fly (or whatever you wanna call it). Now you really do understand it ;) There is nothing more complicated to ratio deco than looking for patterns in profiles. You can do it for any OC mixture or any CC set point (or combo...

Are we training ourselves to die?

Hi Mark I don't buy the stay on the loop becomes essential the deeper you go. Deeper training should be about advanced trouble shooting, carrying enough gas and being comfortable doing ascents. Safety on deep dives is all a matter of carrying enough bailout (or having support or staged gas...

How Many Off Board DIL's to allow for?

HUH ... WHERE'D THE POST GO??? No idea where you have pulled your numbers from - we need more explanation. Either way I wrote ~1.7L you said 1784mL - same thing. Importantly 5-8% (you) 6% (me) of loop volume are pratically the same thing AND - all this assumes full saturation of the whole...

How Many Off Board DIL's to allow for?

I wonder why this literature is only in Polish as English is the language of science? Why is the work is not suitable for publication in international peer reviewed journals? I translated some terms to understand what the table is saying szybkosc wyplukiwania azotu przez tlen z roznych tkanek...

How Many Off Board DIL's to allow for?

I doubt that very much there would not be that much gas dissolved in the body to make that much difference and noticable in anything other than perfect controlled conditions, particularly when you factor in differences in rate of uptake. All it takes is one mask clear (or other leak) and all...

How Many Off Board DIL's to allow for?

1 - not monitoring is not the same as 3 - solenoid failing. 80m DIL is still hypoxic assuming 1.2

How Many Off Board DIL's to allow for?

Debate is what forums are for. We might have different opinions and that is fine with me. If you are out in the field for long periods your life would be simpler filling one dil bottle :sarcy: I wouldn't do 100m with less than 70%
