Bail out cylinders are people using.

Same, all luxfer, with thermo pro valves, mostly 80's although i do have a few 40's

I have a couple of Cat 40's, 65 and a 72 (?) a Lux 80.

I would prefer 80's over the 65 and 72 but thats what I got so I use them.

Diving Long Island wrecks, USS San Diego and SS Oregon, etc? An aluminum 80 with 32% nitrox. Works for just about all of the basic East Coast stuff.

I'm on my boat in Jersey City for a bit. If you want rebreather conversation don't hesitate to stop by. Been diving the darned things here for as long as they have been dived here.

I only have Ali-80's, but my choice would be a mix of Ali-80's and 7's depending on the dive.

12l CarbonDive 300bar for the deeper stuff and a 6.8l CarbonDive 300bar with EAN32 for all the shallow stuff

Luxfer al80 for:
8/80
10/70
15/55
18/45
21/35
50/15
Luxfer 7L for
50%
100%

I´ve tryed carbons but those were too positive in water without weights. And why put weights if you have more neutral tanks available.

AL80 for Nitrox and Steel 10 for trimix

FOr shalower diving i use two steel 7s.

I prefer it this way as diving tanks left right the Aly80is lighter than the equivelent volume of gas in a steel 10. i dive the steel 10 because it alows me to carry more gas and filled to 260bar with 18/45 its just slightly lighter (about 1Kg) than the Al80 filled to 235 with nitrox, so they balance out well.

11ltr Ali = 2585ltrs gas 10 ltr Steel = 2600ltrs of gas.

I love diving the 7s which i blow to 260+ bar but obviously its prety much limits me to 50m diving. each hold 1820 ltrs gas.

I cant see the point of diving half filled Al80s? sticking 160 bar in an 80 leaves you with 1760ltrs gas. Id much rather dive the much more compact 7s.

I have 2 x 12 liters and 2 x 6 liters. Normally I keep the 2 x 6 liters with 50 % and 100%, 1 of the 12 liters it's with 10/50 and in the other 12 liters the flavour it's changing..

Is anybody carrying steel tanks like maybe 85s or 72s for a little extra weight

Basing the weightbalancing on stages that you may want or have to take off (entanglement, donating, temporary placement etc) seems a bit weird. And if it's not for the sake of weight balancing then why would you want extra weight there in the first place?

Anyway, my weapons of choice are S80's, 7L and S40's, all alu luxfer.

Personally I choose to carry ample amounts of standard gases (12/65, 15/55, 18/45, 21/35, 32, 50, 100) which combined with setpoint 1.2 gives me the same decompression profiles that I am used to from open circuit. Hence gaining the advantages of ratio deco as an adjustment tool. And it also makes more sense when diving in a mixed team with OC divers on those gases, enabling us to carry out the same deco and ability to donate without having to recalculate decompression obligations.

No. Not anyone with any sense.

You should come for a visit and I can show you how we rig Alu 80's as side mounts for bailout. You DO NOT want them "hanging heavy". They ought to be tucked up high and behind your arms.

For wreck diving, I find it better to have them carried, not sidemount style but all on the left clipped to the hip D. This way, if I have to pass through a tight doorway, I simply push all the tanks (anywhere from 1 - 3 80's) underneath me with my left hand and my right hand is free to light the area that I am proceeding into and run a reel.

What I use varies with the parameters of the dive but I select from the Catalina 40's, Luxfer 80's and one Dacor sea anchor... I mean 80, that I have acquired since I started diving.
