Canbus isn't really what people think it is, its sort of like calling Stainless Steel...."Marine Grade" its really more about marketing since theres no such think as marine grade stainless.

Canbus is far from a necessity when it comes to rebreathers, the Defender and XCCR are built like tanks and then some, both are impressive.
 
well CAN bus is a very specific type of electronic communication network. The marine grade is not really a good analogy because the CAN bus actually does mean something that has very specific standards. UART is a different style of communication network, with neither necessarily being better than the other, just different ways to attack the same problem. CAN is a lot harder to implement than most UART protocols, I would assume they are using RS485 for these applications, but it has the main advantage of better fault tolerance, especially with multiple devices trying to send data simultaneously.

Coming soon! (I know, this was said earlier!) The manual is written and is being translated into English even as we speak.
 
Is it available in a more stripped down configuration? Do have have any idea what the price would be without tanks, or a wing/backplate or harness?

We apologize for the lack of portion all videos. We have literally so slammed with trying to keep up with the demand for new units that we haven't really turned our attention to that yet. We are however getting closer to be able to spend some time on that project. Don't give up on us. You can keep up with the latest at ccr.sub-gravity.com

As far as the manual goes- it has now been translated and is in the process of going through CE. There will undoubtedly be a few modifications to the manual throughout that process. We should hopefully have something for public consumption soon.

By the way, I see that you are located in the NE USA. There are several try dives scheduled in the North East over the next several months. To stay up to date on those events, log on to the SubGravity Facebook events page.

since I kit up either sitting down in the back of my stationwagon or on a bench while on the boat, I'm wondering if a stand or frame is worth having on an XCCR. If so, who is making JJ style frames for the XCCR? I want an XCCR but would not like to spend a year optimizing it for my purposes

Currently love my Flex SM BOB, which is why I think I could be very happy with an XCCR as a replacement for my unloved SF2.

Hi Michael, there is no need for a stand with the X-CCR. It sits upright just fine and is high enough that it is fairly easy to don while on a boat. I really dislike stands because they ruin what is a perfectly balanced CCR unit and also ad entanglement points.

I think you'll find that the X-CCR works really awesome right out of the box and doesn't require a lot of messing around with to make most divers happy.
