Views on Liquivision X1

Evening, as the title says, I'm toying with the idea of treating myself to Liquivision X1 as a back-up handset. I know they're getting a bit long in the tooth now but, what's the latest thoughts on functionality as a secondary stand alone unit, from those that have/had one?

I have 2 of these and still use them. They work fine. Very happy with them, very upset Liquivision gave up on them. I don't use anything else

they are very good if you have multi-deco
obviously there is no service facility
so if it breaks you have a paperweight
Shearwater appear to be a company that supports all its range of products

Great display but dont like anything you have to recharge in terrms of computers

Batterys on the one I had were not replacable so it was becoming worthless from day one

I found it easy to change the display accedentaly underwater which was anoying.

Aside from thet they worked great. If you can get a cheep S/H one fine but I wouldn't want to pay too much for one myself

Sheerwater is a better unit in every way except size

I wouldn't mind having one as a backup bottom timer type thing, but I wouldn't pay Shearwater prices for one these days.

I have one and I am seriously considering selling it. I do love it though. Very compact and visible screen. I think it's made of aluminium and it's pretty solid.
I would say the downside is the fact it stays on if the connectors are wet. I've run out of of juice because of that but learned my lesson to quickly dry off the connectors after a dive.
I am also disappointed Liquivision gave up on the X1 although I guess they were very expensive to buy. I am pretty sure I paid around £1,000 or a little less for mine.
I'm not sure how much I would sell it for though. Not sure what is 'fair' or market rate.

Don't anything about liquivision , I am lucky enough to have an ostc 2n from OC days which runs great as a back up. Like wise I'd expect the SW stuff to be good. Depends on how cheap they are ?

Indeed, I also really like the predator Screen layout (it's that or he X1) but they are holding crazy value despite them being several generations old now.

Dived one was happy with it until it broke halfway through a trip. Replacement was handled promptly but at a fee I feel I shouldn't have paid since the issue with the bad batch of sensors was widely known by then. Sold the replacement since I wasn't doing the dives that required it at the time and got a weight off my chest.
Overall I was happy with the technology, the v5 was an excellent computer ahead of the competition at the time (sorry sw boys) but unhappy for paying $1600 to become a beta tester and then being asked more $$ to get a proper one.
Buying second hand you can't be sure of the battery and replacing the battery if available comes at a cost. Anything else used would make a better purchase imho.

I love mine but I would not buy one, now, unless the price was under $400.

Ditto. Absolutely love mine, and haven't had any problems with it (that weren't my fault, like wrong settings) in the 6 years I've had it. To buy one now, though, it'd have to be significantly less than a used petrel, which are going stupid cheap compared to what an X11 cost in 2010.
