Trimix course with Jim Wyatt

I have a question to why the student picked Jim Wyatt for this type class? I have known Jim for a long time and yes he can teach trimix but it's mostly done in a cave environment. From previous post Pompano was mention. Now if that is where the student wanted to do the dives I know of several instructors in that area that are more than qualified and make the dives regularly. Why didn't he choose one of them. Just curious.

I interview and carefully select my instructors.

I pay for their time to teach me.

Getting a cert card is something I earn when the instructor says I'm ready.

Hear that sound? It's the hammer hitting the nail on the head. I've met Jim a few times and came away impressed. Having been on the instructor side of things may be
influencing my judgement but, you pay an instructor to make calls like weather. There is no way I'd refund any money. If I recall correctly he said he had to drive 5 hours to get to Pompano. Fee earned. Getting a third party involved = your on your own fella. This is the reason I select my students (and don't work often). I do dive a lot though :-) Hope it all
works out.

If you wanted a full course you should have booked and paid for it, then done it in one hit. If there was a risk of being blown out due to the time of year then perhaps waiting till the summer or doing it in a quarry would have been a better choice. Doing it piecemeal exposes you to the risk that this sort of thing will happen, especially over the winter months. You took the risk and it didn't pay off. Sorry, but it sounds like you want to "have your cake and eat it".
If you want guarantees buy a toaster :-)

I first joked about Jim being able to control the weather but in all seriousness, for real this time, I think this is freaking ridiculous over $200.

It might go a long way to apologize for the whole thread creation and admit that this whole thing was a big mistake to bring to a forum. I agree with Mr. Haynes that this is certainly not in the interest of what CCRX was founded on.

No moderator should be involved but rather US the members of this forum should recognize that this isn't the avenue.

If you feel you need a lawyer go right ahead and do it if you feel the need to but don't bring it on a forum as there are other more important things to talk about like "deep stops", "a really long hose", and "when is SCR appropriate as a bailout strategy."

Of course, I come to the forums to laugh, learn, make friends, meet new divers, win rebreathers and poke "the Don" so I am hardly phased by this drama.

Lucky I have a sense of humor and a really big poker. :hehehm::hehehm::hehehm:

Haha!!!

I'll be honest the two things I'm looking forward to is:

1. CCR cave training in April

2. Diving with Don

Ask my dive buddies. Chris? Phil?
I'm a small fish, so it will probably be a small dive to you Don but it would be epic in my book.

Forums are the space I fill between diving. The people that lay it all down are top in my book.

Hope you are well,

Garth

Wait, there are a few other people I would like to dive with as well but I can't name them all. :-)

Hope you are well,

Garth
