Test Dive Hollis Explorer in Germany

I did 2 test dives on the explorer last wednesday. One in drysuit and one in wetsuit. I was impressed how easy to set up, how light and how good the unit is to breathe. And in all positions very good to breathe. It actually breathe like an CCR, it's no comparission to Dolphin SCR.
Of course as an E-SCR, it cannot compete with CCR's about decompression and gas use. BUT for recreational dives up to 40M I think this unit rocks.
Something I will consider in future: take my Boris for more serious dives and the Explore for fun dives.. . And it makes fun.
I would also encourage the ladys and all people who think rebreathers are only for tec divers to check it out. It's alot lighter then usual CCR's and much easier to handle. A good way to start so to speak, but beware: unit is not upgradeable and goes not deeper than 40M!!

Likes: BMCL, WOB, easy setup,( optional)CO2 sensor, weight, HUD, trim, design (yes! even it's not really important)
Dislikes: Decompression (SCR),start sequence: if aborted for some reason, unit goes not in dive modus. Makes sence as it's a REC unit, make sure to include spares and sensors when traveling

Cheers, Patrick.

Hello Mark,

I made some dives with the unit in our Swiss lakes and never had any problems with the scrubber duration. After two dives (NX32) with 50-60 Minutes at maximal 40 meters I still have 40-50 mins left on the scrubber. So even within cold water the unit would give me around 3 hours for the scrubber, but after reaching 2 hours I always change it.

Best regards

On test dive 20M. Anyway Dinspiration's answer should give you 100% satisfaction. I would also not do more than 2 dives with one schrubber, especially in cold lakes... And that's already a good performance for a small schrubber like this. I'm getting more and more interested in this unit.
