Scrubber tube material

I'm trying to see if I can get a syntactic coating locally because of freight costs and one
of the questions I'm being asked is what plastic is the scrubber tube made of.
Would anyone have any idea ?
 
I looked a little bit and it does seem a pricy thing to do even not going with Kiss. I piled onto other mods you can do to the unit, I reckon it would be a great end package though

I think I have the unit modified to my liking but just think
the foam and Rhino lining would be good for diving in cooler
waters. I just need to decide if it's worth taking the risk that
it may not bond very well with the pvc.
 
Did you do the Hollis BOV and Coopers in the end?

I have the Coopers and a GG BOV but like the idea of the Hollis,
the guy I'm pricing it with is on holiday at the moment so it's on
hold. I do like the GG BOV but think the Hollis would be a lot lighter
on long dives. Do you know if the Drager mouthpiece fits the Hollis ?
 
How did you get on with locally sourcing a coating ?

Not very well unless I do a DIY job, it would involve a bit of practice and not having
a lathe would be a problem though I could always get it turned for me.
 
I was pondering this, is there much difference between syntactic foam and like an epoxy matrix with microballoon filler?
Could you cast a PVC pipe into the middle of an epoxy matrix? Would not actually need to stick to the PVC... just turn a few little grooves so it was mechanically locked in place

The advice I was given was to scratch and lightly scorch the PVC pipe before applying the
coating as it helps it bond and apply the coating by brush while rotating the scrubber.
Microspheres will work fine but I was told to use a specific type of resin but the info is
on a different computer so I will have to look and see what it was.
 
Even pre-crushed neoprene? (ala- Drysuit material)

Not to as much an extent I'd say. I dive an O'Three RI-2100 and
don't think it would offer as much insulation as home made
syntactic foam.
To get the same insulation you would need thick neoprene and
as I said then you have the crushing problem.

I have to look at the other computer for the details of what
resin is best to use, I know it's epoxy but can't remember
if it is slow or fast set.
If I could get a bit of PVC of a similar size I'd practice on it.
