Scrim filters

I just ordered some from JJ the other day (stocking up my "first aid kit") and they were indeed 7 EUR a pair.

I plan to just keep a spare set and rotate that in whenever I replace my cells.

What if the manufactures are using an inferior "wrong" product and OP actually finds something superior? A rebreather is NOT a black box which should be trusted holistically. Each and every component should be examined by the user and questioned as to why it was picked. Often it is because of budget reasons or because a better product is in use by a different manufacture so this company can't use it. Maybe it's out of guidance from legal council. We could all improve every rebreather on the market. every manufacture has to make compromises to make a profit while not being drug into court.

Really? so the user knows better than the design team, the Q/A team and the CE team? By all means a user should be on the look out for things that dont look right.. but to question and replace something so trivial for the sake of a cinema tickets worth of coin every three years is just daft.

If the OP wants to find the same scrim material but a different brand then so be it, but to plan on, or even entertain the thought of using a totally different material is just retarded.

Yeah I don't see what the fuss is all about.. The scrim filter sets last hundreds of hours. I seen rental JJ that get a lot of abuse and the scrim filters in there were well over a year old.. A set is 7 Euros (plus a gazillion Euros in shipping cost) direct from JJ or third parties. It's not a huge deal on the scale of things to order one to piggy-back on your shipping cost when you order your spares or a new set of cells.

BTW the price for the original (set of two) from JJ-CCR ApS is 7 EUR which is around 8.70 U$. 25 U$ as mentioned in the first posting looks a bit strange to me.....

Maybe that's the price in the US, didn't someone get the exclusive distributorship for JJ?

RebreathersUSA is the distributor but their site is not set up for parts sales yet. I have contacted Curt a few times but haven't gotten anywhere. The price I posted was from the N@90 website.

Yeah I sent Curt a few emails for parts also and didn't get a reply. Hence why I ended up just dealing with the factory and they shipped my stuff the next day.

Just to close this out, I finally heard back from Curt. Price for scrims is the same as N@90 -- $12 each or $24 for a pair. There wouldn't be overseas shipping involved for me, but that is still a lot higher than they should be.

scrims on the jj website are 7 euros for a pair

Can you provide a link? I do not see anywhere on the website listing spare parts or purchase info. Although I think my current situation is sorted, I would really like to keep a link to the main site.

Don't you believe me when I tell you they are 7 Euros and you can order from JJ by email ? I guess my post count is too low...

yes go to www.jj-ccr.com the pricelist is under the downloads tab

Thanks Dave. Never would have thought to look under Downloads.

Of course I believed you. And I appreciated your PM. And I sent an email to JP before I heard back from Curt. But I still want to bookmark the spares price list. BTW, Curt gave me a price for a spare solenoid. That's not even on the list.

I just heard back from Curt and he corrected himself. The price for scrims is $12 per pair, not individual. That is very reasonable.

What's the price on a JJ solenoid?

Beats me. Its a little high, but I've paid over $100 for a crappy Jaska before. I understand the JJ solenoid is unique to this rebreather. If not, then so be it.

I guess it might be because the stuff comes from Denmark so the factory price list doesn't take into account the shipping and import duty involved in getting it stateside. The guy gotta make margin, too. My little care package from JJ just landed in my desk. Now I'm ready for remote ops, yay!
