RIP inspo classic?

I think it vanished with the website revamp. You'd think they would have said more about it if they have stopped it.

I would have thought the passing of such an important part of rebreather history deserved a bit of respect, a bit of fanfare, something of a wake. Not just being quietly drowned in a hessian sack in the fishpond at the back of the garden like an unwanted kitten.

Hopefully it's just an omission but it really doesn't look like it.

plenty of old one,s knocking about , cant seem them flogging new one,s

as long as we can get a service and new parts , alls well ,

Quite, the price of a 2nd hand one + big service was less than than of a new one for a while... I too was wondering why they'd lasted so long.

A shame really- despite all the abuse, historical unreliability, the cause of the YBOD and Deathbox insults, we have alot of thank Dave Thompson, Martin Parker and the Classic Inspiration for. They reinvented the rebreather for the recreational market and founded a niche that's spurned 50+ manufacturers and a whole industry. Today they still form a valid, budget entry point to the hobby and wonderful basis for modified or home built units and the design of the Classic lives on inside the Vision (the Master/Slave controller) and the simple and effective plumbing of the loop.
Rebreathers obviously predate the Inspiration considerably but if you want to see the genesis of the current crop you have to look at the Inspiration.

FWIW I'm reliably informed the cessation of Classic production was announced last year with the caveat that they'll still make them if someone was to specifically ask!
