Recommendations sought for a tough reliable waterproof PLB canister depth rated to 150M, please.

Thanks

Call up Light Monkey (or probably whatever canister light manufacturer is popular in your neck of the woods) and ask them for an undrilled canister. Not cheap, but will definitely be the best depth-rated option. I have a LM can for mine and it's great. Holds a PLB, a chem light, a dye pack, and has enough room for something like a protein bar or similar.

If you remove the bottom screw clamp and use a tight loop of bungee instead, you can easily take it off without having to unthread it from your harness. Use a small d-ring attached on the top screw clamp and you can use a stage bottle leash like a wrist strap so you can manipulate it better in rough seas and don't risk losing it.

Wookie over on SB had a bunch made up like this that he'd issue to divers on his tech trips. The PLB's were expired so he gave a few away when he sold the Spree. He may have a couple left, but the thread should have some pictures to give you an idea at least.

OMS used to make one for a EPIRB, and it was great. I dove with it for years. Not sure if they still do...

Don't believe the 150m claims made by those selling the HDV SeaTek cannister http://hdvseatek.com/ .

I tested one to 100m and the upper dome crushed inward. It didn't leak but clearly no good for 150m

The manufacturer was contacted and the said they have revised the rating to 70m.

That sux. What did CD say about it? Maybe old light canisters are the way to go. Iv been trying sell a 50w hid with Sartek can forever. I think I'm just going to keep the can now for my plb. Anyone ever try these: http://aqua-elevation.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=103
Not 170m rated but self contained to 100m isnt bad.
The first one I sent it back and they could not find any fault with it. Apparently it was possibly an O ring that had not been lubricated or grit had got on the O ring. The replacement one that they sent then failed and likewise the proposed fault was an in-lubricated O ring. I was then offered a spare set of Orings. Thing is as I dive a CCR, every time I build it or dismantle it or change the battery I have never had an Oring fail. As I still cannot pinpoint the root cause and not discounting user error either I changed to a mc Murdo canister. An expensive lesson, two PLB canisters and three PLB's later!!
