I bought the HW pPO2 monitor and it never worked properly - not one dive. Same with DR5.

HW told me to return the product for refund and after they received it, they refunded only about 50% of the purchase price of the DR5 (only the pPO2 Monitor cost was refunded by the retailer, but I still lost lots of money and time as other costs were not refunded and they kept my Swagelok connector).

I sued HW and they signed for, but rejected the properly served Court Claim alleging it was not translated in German.

The required German translation of the Claim was there and HW speaks and understand English as evidenced by email correspondence (and their UK English website).

The little OSTC and its predecessor works wonders (well done HW), but pPO2 Monitor integrated or otherwise I would not buy till they demonstrate with Certification and actual in use real test and diving that they actually work dependably and consistently, nor would I dive with a buddy or buddy team using them.

My personal and documented (papers, pictures, and videos) experience.

It is 499EURO for the stand alone one! With that price i think it will be hard for SW to sell theirs.

It looks really good! I have their OSTC N2 already so maybe I should get this one also :)

Yes, but the SW Hud works and is proven over 10s of thousands of dives.

Yep, and don't make the mistake I did to be a too early of an adopter on HW products (life-support pPO2 Monitor products integrated or otherwise, OSTC 2N and predecessor are brilliant as stand-alone dive computers).

I bought the HW pPO2 Monitor pendant and in common with other divers (so I read, the few others who bought it) it never worked properly and it was withdrawn very very early and quickly (well before the usual end-of life product cycle).

Nonetheless, I wish it will work reliably and is and will be proven to be dependable and look forward to read here the experiences of early adopters.

The thing about Shearwater is the bombproof support we get from JR and regular software updates from Bruce/SW.

Damn I must be missing out, havn't had a single software update for my SW HUD in the last six years!

What works, does not need continuous software updates.

A plus for the Shearwater HUD (never tried it, but definitely a plus) relative to HW products (lots of bugs especially the OSTC 2N, but well supported and cared for).

The thing though one thing is bugs on a dive computer (tables, tables, tables) and another is pPO2 Monitor life-support devices with bugs or which do not work at all.

Two different level of risks and possible outcomes entirely (switch to backup tables vs. switch into the afterlife).

I do have strong feeling on the subject of those who put divers' lives at risk with non-performing life-support products (my life in particular).

Too slow... way too slow... I was gullible and too easily impressionable... I did not know much at the beginning and I trusted expert advice... well, I made it anyway.

Glad to have made it, and won't make the same mistake again!
