Above picture is actually a "deco station" and not really a "lazy shot" as we use. The deco station is a bar or series of bars at perhaps 12m, 9m and 6m which are suspended on large bouys as Andris has shown. This is then connected to the down line via a releaseable line as described above. A simpler version is the lazy shot which is simply a weighted rope hanging on a second bouy with a release clip at 21m. As per the description above, divers all ascend onto the lazy shot and the last one releases the clip. All divers are now on a short line which is drifting in the current, therefore making deco much easier. The deco station is better but takes up much more space and is more suited to hard boat operation. The lazy shot simply requires a second 21m rope, some weight, a release clip and a bouy so is perfect for our local RIB operations with generally only 4 divers in the water at once
