With all that complexity, if something did go wrong I would find really hard work to trouble shoot. My gue config JJ makes me a witch to most though
Fully aware that I am contributing to derailing the discussion, but you said exactly what I always think when I see rigs loaded with countless options and ways of running the units. For me, failure analysis seems next to impossible on many of them.
My thinking is that every option is a possibility for making one more mistake. That is the reason I think one very reliable course of action in the event of rebreather malfunction is safest. OC is easy and comforting when proper plans are made before the dive.
Just my personal insignificant thoughts
Dive safe!+1 to that. I've spent more time simplifying my rig than is good for me.
That said, I do recognise the thought and time the OP has put in to create a set-up that is right for him and the diving he does. Congrats for doing your own thing. I'd be interested to see/read what you have to replace the JJ

In fairness, the configuration illustrated is an earlier iteration. In essence though the final version provided the following funtionality:
1. Off and on board selectable gas feeds to the BOV; shallow / deep BO and dil / O2
2. The ability to run larger (7ltr) on board cylinders (without off board). Able to maintain selectable gas feeds (dil / O2) to the BOV without changing any plumbing
3. Provide a redundant O2 feed to the O2 MAV. Able to isolate the primary O2 feed in the case of a primary O2 boom. To by-pass the redundant O2 system if required.
The JJ has served me well but some aspects of its design and construction have troubled me for a while. The one - piece machined delrin head, potted electronics and hard wired HUD and controller are not user serviceable. I prefer a more modular approach. The design attracts and retains debris between the head and the canister making removal of the head problematical. The fixed cell holders require the complete head to be removed for drying following diving. The tee-piece attachments are less than ideal. All these aspects have been resolved for me by iQsub with their designs; Hammerhead, Defender and XCCR. I have therefore made an investment in a number of units which support; back and side mount dual eCCR, back mount (a similar configuration to the JJ) eCCR, travel eCCR (delrin HOBO canister) and an O2 mCCR. I've been really pleased with the support from iQsub, Kent Tooling, Custom Divers, Techline / Shawtek, DUX-diving, Dare to Dive, Dive Soft, Narked@90, Miflex UK and Omniswivel in bringing this project together.
