JJ GUE configuration

Hi All

I am a new JJ diver, and was taught on a JJ with backmounted LP50's for Dil, this unit was also fitted with a golem gear shrimp BOV with a right hand OC feed. (the hose went from left post behind your head and down the loop to the bov)

The 2nd hand unit i just picked up has a left hand OC feed Shrimp that was never put on the unit and just wondering if anyone else is running this config and can show some pictures of hose routing. And if you have any issues with loop restriction of movement.

Why not just use a shorter hose to run from the left post, inside the T-piece (or through a bungee loop on the T-piece) and down the loop? Seems like it’d be the same for any left-hand OC feed BOV on most rebreathers, as dil is on the left anyways, save that you’d have it coming down from a post rather than over the shoulder from an inverted tank.

I tried it on the weekend using an existing 28 inch Miflex dual swivel reg hose off the left post and used some 2 inch rubber webbing straps to run it along side the loop hose. Experiment 1 was a failure, DSV was very uncomfortable.

After talking to some people, im trying a 15 inch miflex with a 70/120 degree lp elbow fitting on the BOV and run off the left post and im guessing not attached to the loop.
 
I don't dive in a GUE config but I loop my BOV hose around the T piece then down to the cylinder with a QC6 in between. The loop around the T Piece takes all the pressure off your jaw.

Use bungie loops to route the LP hose along the loop to the T piece
From the T piece go over the top of the wing then down between the wing and tank
Tuck the slack behind the wing
Then come up to your left post

The 28" might be the right length or even a little longer as there's plenty of room to get a smooth curve behind the wing before going up to the 1st stage. If you have a CCR wing with cutouts for hoses near the top that's even better - route the LP hose through those and tuck the excess behind the wing. If you want a QC6 on the system put it in the section behind the wing as well. Or just leave the hose on your 1st stage and screw it to the BOV during your assembly checklist
