JJ-CCR Teardown

As someone interested in the distant future at CCR I found this tear down great. Thank you for posting.

One thing I found tricky to understand as a non CCR diver with no experience at all was where the 02 MAV goes some more explanatory shots of this would have saved me a few long stares and scratches of the head.

Seriously though brilliant tear down. Must have taken you some time so thanks.

Second picture, left hand side. There are two miflex hoses coming down the shoulder strap.

It allows easy access as well as off board connections.

Hope it helps.

Thanks Ben!

I've added two more descriptive pictures to the original post now, with labels on where everything is, hope that helps. :)

Can you post a pic of yor set up with the full loop connected and BCD inflated?

Looks like it would be a tight fit on the pot hoses.
I have the same set-up and it's a bit of a squeeze. But, you're only likely to have a fully-inflated wing on the surface. Once there and sorted, you should have other options for buoyancy.

Opheim,

Nice breakdown. Two questions with the Tek3's.

1. Is the environmental seal that you need to remove just the bit of rubber on the inside side end, not the actuator. I'm a Mk25 lad, so not too familiar with Apeks yet.

2. What did you end up doing with the Dil side OPV? I see four hoses coming from the four ports. Have you accepted the ADV as a OPV?

Thanks,

DT

You need to remover the outer rubber and the black "stick" underneath it, leaving the hole into the chamber open. It's this pressure transmitting piece of plastic that messes up the IP on descent.

I removed the OPV from my first stage when I replaced the DSV with the BOV, as that is essentially a "standard" second stage. The other alternative would be to keep the original manifold somewhere in order to gain an extra LP port, but that would mess up hoses and add more o-rings and failure points, so I have chosen not to do it.

Perhaps Dave would be able to comment on this?

You can convert a Dry-sealed Turret (DST) into the unsealed (UST) version by removing the 2 collars (including the parts you say) and the adjuster-nut and replacing with a new (unsealed) end-cap and adjuster.

Sorry if that is "teaching to suck eggs".

Matt.

Okay, so that would be parts 2 and 4 of this pic? Called the Hydrostatic diaphragm and the Hydrostatic Transmitter.

That would look to do it.

I'm not familiar with the Tek3, it looks a bit different externally to the UST and DST (or even the DS4/US4) and the job doesn't look as neat.

:offtopic:

I took a look at the DS4 and you lose the Diaphragm Clamp (#7), and the Environmental End Cap (#1), Hydrostatic Membrane (#2), Environmental Decal (#3), Hydrostatic Transmitter (#4) and Sprint Adjuster (#5), and replace with Spring Adjuster (#36) & Diaphragm Cap (#35). Parts cost is about £50 in UK.

Sorry for being OT.

Matt.
