Heating undergarments

DUI's Blue Heat works very well, generous amount of heat, different sections (back/torso) (gloves/booties) are controlled separately. Three power settings, controller gives you a visual on what power you are on plus the battery life remaining. Canister can also be used for power an LED lamp at the same time, caveat is that one has to make a choice, heated bootie and gloves, or the LED lamp, it can't do both along with the heated back/torso, as there are two bulkhead fittings on the canister, not three. Subconn wet disconnect at the bulkhead fitting add valve to your drysuit. Some complain that the bulkhead fitting is too bulky, I never have had a problem with it with over one hundred dives with it. Everyone complains also about the size of the battery/canister, but when you think about it, we are asking a lot out of the battery. At full power and all heating pads on, it draws 150 watts, that is a massive amount of battery power. I mount the Blue Heat battery on my O2 bottle with a separate bracket, and I never notice it there, period. If I was squeezing thru a tight restriction in a cave, I could see it giving me a slightly larger profile, but I never do it, so a mute point. I have been testing this system over a two year period in mine diving with a constant 42 degree Fahrenheit water temp, in very deep diving with long decompression obligations. I am NEVER cold, even with three hour TRT. Never a meltdown or any failure or any connector whatsoever. I have had two left hand gloves fail for some weird reason, but DUI was always on the spot and sending a replacement right away.

Yeah, I'd be interested too since I'd rather not spend a fortune on new battery packs in order to replace custom made battery packs that I have been using happily for years (2 packs, each containing 2 seperate 12V 15Ah NiMh Batterys). A controller that I can use inside the suit, and swap between suits would be the perfect solution, preferaby w/o connectors on the cable ends since I'd rather not have to swap out the very reliable high quality Tamiya connectors that haven't ever given me trouble in over 10 years.

This is exactly the reason why it was designed! You don´t need any special batterypack or rebuilt the pack so it cant be used with a light. You put it between the vest and suit connection and use the standard toggle on the canister.

I use only the full sized Tamiya Connectors (solid body, no springs, must be soldered, gold plated and cost about a dollar more than the cheap shit connectors that give so much trouble). You will curse a blue streak getting the soldered pin the into the nylon connector but if you use a 2.5-3mm flatbladed screwdriver with an oversized handle and a lot of force it's not impossible to properly seat the pins all the way into the nylon plug.
