Cylinder mounting options?

For units without built in quick mounts for bottles, in your experience what works best for being reliable and compact?

The Metalsub brackets (@Golem) are a strong contender, but I've not personally used them. Currently using an X-Bracket and cam straps or stainless clamps, but jumping off a boat in the NE with current/waves/twisted metal etc has me concerned with the cam straps, and clamps are a PITA.

FYI: SF2 SM, with conversion to occasional BM in this case. No, I don't need/want the frame.

On the short version, what's the distance between the outer edges of the clamps on the female side? Essentially, how much space do you need?

And how far above the lower clamps lower edge on the female side is the edge of the lower clamp on the Male (so I can measure to shoulder of bottle)?

Basically, trying to carefully choose the system based on where it clamps and if I can still disassemble my SF2 while attached.

Please don't sent me a link to the X-CCR. Although a wonderful unit, I'm working with what I have.

I forgot, the specs for the Metalsub brackets are actually on the website. The width for the standard length is the same as the shorter versions (which are custom designed for SubGravity) If you click on the "Specs" tab on the website, you can see the width, which is actually 7cm. https://sub-gravity.com/product/metalsub-cylinder-bracket/

Yeah, Charlie. I've been hearing great things from those that use them and another instructor I highly respect has directed me your way.

Going to have a look at the "curved" ones alongside some others (Lola) this weekend, unless of course my wife has made extensive plans for me otherwise (again).

Had you been in the UK, I'd have suggested Kent Tooling. You could still shop there of course but the shipping might put you off... but their various clamps etc are excellent anyway!
 
I mounted them like doubles. Added a little extra weight as well. Won't let me upload a pic though. I can send them via email or they are on Facebook
