Cave cage for the HH/Defender

I've learned by watching Don stand up at Ginnie from the picnic tables on how .... not to treat your handsets... Baha!

Of all the failures I have had, at least that one was understandable. It still sucked but I learned a valuable lesson that day that has been developed into a foolproof safety strategy that even I have not been able to screw up. :-(

Funny, they've been working great for me! ;)

Hey, the sun even shines on a dogs arse once in a while. :-)

I'm about to put loop covers on my top hoses to protect from a snakebite on the hose where it goes into the delrin pipe connector near the head. Hoping that will offer a little more armor against an unfortunate smack on the rock ceiling I'm not expecting.

Tearing a loop hose from hitting the ceiling? That never happens..

Where's Derek when we need him?

I make my own....

Okay Mark, all joking aside where do you get the neoprene to make these covers. Just curious because I'm interested in making some covers for myself. I'll try to stay away from neon so as to not confuse the real diver from the vacation diver... ;)

Taste and needs vary so ymmv, but I'm making mine out of "outdoor patio material" I purchased at Jo Ann Fabrics. It's supposed to be for outdoor cushions etc. it's thick and feels like a duffel bag. Comes in a variety of colors and a few patterns.

Considered neoprene but it's harder to come by and i was worried about sewing it and not having the stitch holes weaken the fabric. Plus I'm not sure it's any more resilient than the outdoor fabric I found.

Ebay and google are your friends here... I have never spent more than about $20 for enough of what ever I want to make a couple sets. When one set gets ugly I just replace them. I typically make 2-3 sets at a time. Full disclosure I use them for a couple reasons... 1) Protect the hoses 2) They really pop in a picture... 3) When you have a group of divers in the water it makes it really easy to tell who is who.
