Be glad you don't live here...

Looks very bad. You seem pragmatic but it must be dreadful for you and Jikka.

Hope you got some sleep (unlikely I know) and what you find tomorrow is not too awful.

We are ok, in the van on high ground. The reports are that 3 meters of water destroyed the entire area where I lived, and my home and shop are gone. Not a good day. Dawn not yet arrived, and we are not yet allowed back. Still raining.

Sorry to hear this Dave. Hope you and Jitka are ok and that some normality can resume in a few days/weeks time.

Matt.

Dave, when everything is gone, if you need any financial help to build the house again please send me a PM. I can't send much but it will help a bit. And if maybe others from here will do the same it will help maybe more. Until then, stay safe.

Sorry to hear about that, least you're out of the way of it yourself.

Seventeen people from the replica HMS Bounty abandoned ship while stranded at sea off North Carolina in the path of the hurricane, roughly 160 miles from the center of storm, the U.S. Coast Guard said on Monday.

"The 17-person crew donned cold water survival suits and lifejackets before launching in two 25-man lifeboats with canopies," the Coast Guard said, adding it was determining which aircraft or vessel was best-placed to launch a rescue.

The three-masted tall ship was built for the 1962 movie "Mutiny on the Bounty."

Seen on the news they got a helo out to them and got 14 out, one dead, captain still missing.

Well, walked thru the house and shop. It's mostly gone. Water over the top of my milling machine. 17 foot Boston Whaler on its trailer floated over a 4 foot fence. So no more LDSOH for now. Boat fine. All of my in-use dive gear was aboard. Many rebreathers here under a foot of mud though. It's a real mess.

Sorry to hear your sad new,s Dave ,
Hope your insurance will pick up some of your loss ,

shitty news all the same ,, good luck with getting things back to some sort of Normality,

Thanks Mate.

When they started dragging bodies out of the mud at the end of the street things didn't look so bad for us.

In the van, cannot leave the area as its still cut off. Have food water medicine shelter and a 9mm Browning. No sanitation but I do have Internet and two rebreathers! Go figure.

Sorry to hear you're crappy news Dave, watched the webcams as it hit late last night looked like Armageddon !!.
Good luck with the rebuild and stay safe.
Regards
Drew

So sorry to hear about the damage, Dave.
If you guys need a dry place to stay, my guest room here in CT, is always open -you are always welcome.
Plenty of good polish food, enough booze to get a football team liver cirrhosis. And if the shit ever hit the fan, couple dozens of firearms and adequate number of ammo - just my kind of disaster preparedness :square:

:-(

Keep safe, Dave.

Plan now is to get on the roads as soon as they open, head 200 miles north, and bring EXPLORER down, moor her here, and live aboard as I muck out and salvage what I can. She's comfy, I lived aboard her before thru a winter, so that's that.

I found an alu-80 sitting on top of my lathe. Go figure that out.
