AP release new handset

I don't see battery life as a pro or a con really. Changing a battery (or pair), or recharging when the lime is changed isn't a problem. Batteries are cheap. I'll soon be selling the ones I have in-stock, I think I paid £16 for 12 Energizer.

The chap I dived with at xmas had a SW on his rEvo. Except he forgot his battery and had to dive it without a controller as he could not get the right battery in Coron.

Matt.

Make a dive with the vison handset on left and a Petrel on the right arm and compare the screens, you will give a s... on the battery when replacing the oldtimer by something state of the art. ;-)

On the other hand the battery lifetime of a Petrel with Saft Cells is pretty good, better than the vision. Ok the Petrel does not feed the solenoid ...

I´ve also the PETREL EXT (4th cell holder) and now with the new AP20202 i´ll be with full colour displays for sensors AND full colour display for solenoid...

Anybody has any clue about power consumption?
I dug the APD Website and the upgrade does not mention the need to change the battery setup.
I am wondering if I can still run the unit with the CR123 battery package or I have to upgrade to rechargeable batteries.

Thanks

Fabio

Absolutely YES and low consumption. No need to change for rechargeable batteries. Unit goes with the CR123 battery package and i belive this IMHO is a better user option comparing to the rechargable batteries. CR 123 are available everywhere and if you have a problem the replacement cost is minimum and field repair is viable. On the other hand if a rechargable batterie dies, no more dives and a big invoice for repair works.

AP answered this question on the Facebook page. The power consumption of the new handset is similar to the old one. No need to change battery configuration.

Thanks to both of you for the reply, it was hidden in a reply to a comment ...

I concur wholeheartedly. And that is why :shifty: I suspiciously look against any push toward a change in my power setup!

Cheers

I think the power question is more towards having the HUS than the handset...
