A proper frame for the Sentinel at last

ok, I might be the only one here but the travel frame for the Sentinel is pants....I think its badly thought out and flimsy; my head doesnt even fit its that crap!

So I asked Sunkmail creations in Canada if he could do anything after seeing his prism mini frame.

So, after hundreds of emails, photos and measurements this beauty turned up.. I was only expecting a u shape design with the ability to mount cylinders on the side.

I ll do a proper write up once I put it together but I was excited that my measurements actually worked!!

This is so far a one off and will probably have some issues to iron out but initially so far it fits!

I m gonna use the travel frame counter lung at the mo but Scott is working on a cage to fit the standard CL into but thats a work in progress.

Is there any plans to produce more of these?

I've got several :) The unit is ready to ship for use with Travel lungs.

I haven't added it to my website yet (I can't post links yet ... Sunkmail Creations is the site's name)
- mainly because, due to several reasons beyond my control, I have not been able to validate the success of the CL cover for the stock CL, but it is still in progress. I'm also open to user comments and suggestions. :)

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

Cheers,
Scott

I haven't had a chance to try with the cl case you made yet.... Its taken a lot of fettling to get it to fit so far.

To anyone interested, I had dived 2 times with the frame and its a cracker, very comfortable with a KT back plate.

The travel lung isn't bad just need to find a better way to hold it down as the clips on the long webbing don't work like they do on an inspo.

The frame itself is not far off being perfect considering it was made with my measurements.. Lung will be a work in progress

I haven't had a chance to make any further progress. (Sorry)

Between not having ready access to a Sentinel for testing, and some significant family stuff in the last year or so, I have had to place this on the back burner.

If anyone knows of someone with a Sentinel in or around Vancouver, BC, Canada, I may be able to move forward. Otherwise, I'm waiting on feedback from Windymiller.

Sorry I can't offer more at the moment.

For anyone with Travel lungs already, the frame is ready to go. I didn't want to place it on the website until I had a full solution, but I am starting to rethink that position.

Cheers,
Scott

Hi Scott

I did email you...That GRP cover didnt fit so I never got past the travel lung....Apart from that its very good. Not so bulky on a boat, can use 3L cylinders and trims out very nicely..Travel lung ok, just needs proper fixing down as it keeps floating up!

Hi ,, the frame looks great ,just one question though ,,, how do yo access the scrubber without removing from the frame ? ,, hope I'm not being dumb but from the pics it looks like you slide the whole unit in from the top ?!? :/

From the bottom... The bottom drops off and you drop the unit to get access to the scrubber base

Have you got any pics of this? Are you using the adv conversion from travel frame ? I like the idea of variable cylinders so just trying to weigh up any other poss problems :)

Thanks BJ

How much is the frame, currently using the standard TF but yes a bit flimsy! Currently in the welding shop getting a 'repair'

Re lungs, I put my lung down in front of the frame behind my wing as opposed to OTS works much better for me.

Looks like I somehow missed that message - Sorry about that.

I have made my Album of pics available for public viewing @ plus.google.com/photos/106609100004317890360/albums/5868554101297311057
(I don't have a high enough post count to make that into a link yet)

As mentioned, The bottom of the frame is removable. It is held in place with 4 wing nuts which can easily be removed without tools. It is a little more work than the default method of velcro, but I feel it is much more secure.

Cheers,
Scott

Hi Karl,

Due to the low volume of the initial run...

The complete frame, including the SS hardware, is $600 CAD + S&H. (That is approx. £360 GBP or €425 Euros)

I believe you will find you will not have to 'repair' my stand. It should more than hold up to regular use and reasonable abuse. :)

Cheers,
Scott

Do you have a pic of how you've done the lungs?
