    My DCS Hit

As painful as these discussions have become, I still feel strongly that we as a diving community have benefited from the discourse. I for one, have gained a much greater insight into the nuances of the various deco models, how they are structured and the methodology behind them by reading about...

    My DCS Hit

Matthieu, I was thinking the same thing. Although it's obviously not a clearly defined indicator of causation, the chest pain during decent and at depth continuing on to 110 feet, seems like to big of a coincidence to just ignore. WOB difficulties during inhalation using an ADV at depth have...

So Don, do you feel that the pain in the sternum you were experiencing at depth is related to your DCS hit?

Mastery of CCR Diving is a Series of Baby Steps!

I totally agree Brett. That is why I mentioned creating "thinking divers". The problem is there is many times a disconnect between thinking through the problem and being able to physically respond to the problem due to lack of practice.

Mastery of CCR Diving is a Series of Baby Steps!

Mastery of CCR Diving is a Series of Baby Steps! Due to my post last week about standards violations, I received a fair bit of hate mail as well as legitimate questions from divers and instructors seeking further clarification on my comments. Consequently, I have decided to write a series of...

    Out of control!

An Open Letter to CCR Instructors, Instructor Trainers, Certification Agencies, and CCR Manufacturers I am becoming increasingly more concerned about the seemingly growing tendency to short cut the system in order to create more CCR divers and instructors. Rarely does a day pass in which...

Handling Hypoxic Bailouts with a BOV

My BOV is always plugged into my onboard dil. I don't use a gas block and I never plug in off-board gas to my BOV. I dive my unit as an O2 rebreather down to 6 meters and if I had to bailout above 6 meters, I would bail to my off-board rich gas. My BOV is strictly used as a transitional...

A whole gaggle of X-CCRs in Cave Country, Florida!

Yes, we actually had 2 Defender CCRs along as well. The CCR Rescue Workshop is really an interesting and challenging experience. We'll have to see if we can organize something around the TEKDiveUSA.2018 conference.

A whole gaggle of X-CCRs in Cave Country, Florida!

Michael and I just finished up a crossover class with the National Park Service Submerged Resources Team on the X-CCR. It also included a CCR Rescue Workshop. It's such a pleasure working with a disciplined team of CCR divers who take their diving seriously and work hard to improve their team...
