Does anyone else HATE this new website?

I changed the style in 'preferences' to 'default' and found it a lot easier to read

Good catch. This indeed reverts to a more standard white background and more compact look. It also suggests that someone creative could create custom style sheets for different tastes and make them available in the Preferences>>Style menu.

I should have kept quiet. It seems this option has been removed.
It's not easy to read coloured print on coloured background.
Probably easy for a 20 year old graphic designer but not for middle aged rebreather divers with failing eyesight; which around here is the norm for ccr divers.

Holy Crap, talk about having something shoved down your throat instead of letting you decide yourself. Oh well, I guess we are not being forced to visit this site anyway. If it is that unpleasant members will just go elsewhere.

Hi guys,

The reality of keeping the doors open at CCRX is that we depend on the kind donations from our sponsors who run advertising banners on the website. Unfortunately, when the "style" of the website is returned to the "default" setting, the banners do not show up and the sponsors do not receive a return for their investment.

Please rest assured that we are working to enhance your viewing pleasure, but we have to ensure that the sponsor's banners are viewed, other wise the money dries up and there is no CCRX.

We are not trying to make it difficult for the readers and we do appreciate your feedback. Watch this space for incremental improvements during the coming days! :)

Warm regards,
Randy

How does it affect your sponsors if I am running Ad block Plus and the banners (and all other advertising) are blocked anyway? Do they even know who has there stuff visible and who does not?

Don, if you are blocking the banners, then you are automatically added to the "CCRX Naughty List" and you won't get a Christmas card this year! :)

Obviously, we and the sponsors hope that you are seeing their banners since it pays the bills, but if you take steps to block them, you'll have to live with the consequences. (From what I understand, blocking banners causes all sorts of bad luck!)

OK, I was just curious how the advertisers would even know if they were being visible since it is a preference thing for each individual.

If I turn off Ad Block Plus, will you send me another Reference RS for a Christmas present? :)

The only thing I don't like about the new forum is the lack of Tapatalk. This means I visit less and see the ads less.

If you don't turn the Ad Block off, I'm going to repossess you Reference RS! :)

The only thing I don't like is the lack of Tapatalk.
But I'm sure that from the moment it is possible it will be integrated. I must admit that I am visiting the sites less because of this

I do appreciate all the efforts to keep this site running, thanks.

Greetings
David

Hi Randy et al.-
Since folks are providing suggestions and everyone has an opinion (LOL), any chance you can set the default for new posts to something more than 10 so you don't have to scroll through numerous pages when checking in on new content? I know you probably want to find a happy medium between scrolling down and clicking forward...I see the default is 20 for the number of posts in a particular thread, and that feels about right...maybe bump the new posts listing to 20?
Just my minor $0.02.
Cheers,
Mike

Done! Your wish is our command! :)

Hi Guys, I think we have mentioned previously the problem with Tapatalk. Although it provides a nice easy access to multiple forums all in one place, it eliminates the banner ads for our sponsors which are what pays the bills around here. Unfortunately, it takes money to operate the forum and without our sponsors, there is no CCRX. Without the banner ads, there are no sponsors.

We have been working diligently to ensure that the website displays appropriately on mobile platforms. I think that once you get used to seeing it on your mobile device, you will hopefully agree that this is a nice compromise.
