"Rebreather Enthusiast"
I was going through some old dive logs the other night and came across what I believe is my first ever rebreather dive! I thought it would be fun to see if anyone else had their original rebreather dive logged and could share with us. It is always fun to look back and reminisce!
- Date: August 10 2002
- Location: Blue Lake, UT USA
- Dive number: 94
- Rebreather model: Draeger Dolphin (actually an Atlantis that was converted to a Dolphin)
- Story to go along with it: Typical 17 year old behavior- I took apart my rebreather (can't remember why?) between this first dive and the second dive that day. For some reason I thought I would just do it real quick without the instructor seeing and did not complete my checks once it was put back together. Descended to about 10' / 3m, heard the gurgling and had my one and only caustic cocktail
I had pinched the main gasket in the scrubber and had a large, obvious gaping opening for the water to flood the unit. Only took me that once to learn my lesson about pre-dive checks
