Rebreather market data

Looking for the following data for a project. If anyone has any actual hard data or links they'd like to share, much appreciated:

Number of CCR's in use globally
Current CCR sales trends globally

Yeah, good luck with that... use the search engine, been a topic of debate/argument on forums for 15yrs.

There is no accurate data.

Probably both 1000's but not close to 10000's, as such all CCR related "analysis" is impossible due to sample size inadequacy, as such all "facts" you read here and elsewhere... aren't :-)

Understood that total-sales and in-use are different, but do you think APD are close to 10k sales?

Nearly 20 years in the market, and not gone bust?

Matt.

Assuming their serial numbering system is sequential and not overly cryptic, could that number be deduced from a serial number from a newer unit?

Assuming 25% of the 50M is APD rather than AP, and revenue split 60/40 sales/service then that would be 5M is unit-sales. Average per unit of 5k would be 1,000 units sold.
Assuming 75% of the 50M is APD rather than AP, and revenue split 60/40 sales/service then that would be 22M in unit-sales. Average per unit of 5k would be 4,500 units sold.

Perhaps Ben was closer to the mark.

I was thinking they must make at least 1 per day sales over 20 years (average), 250 days a year would be 5,000 (lower) and maybe 2 or 3 a day (10-15k) upper.

I was thinking about trends rather than all out figure (so annual) but still possibly not...

I don't know but remember the AP group also does lots of commercial, military and police kit to fill out the recreational and rebreather sales.

It would be nice if the figures where higher and more knowledge/money was spent in the sector but there are enough plumbers diving closed circuit as it is, imagine the outcome if droves of recreational, dozen dives a year charlies where all on the loop?! :-)

Just a hunch, I'm not in the same league by a long shot.

I would suggest that you think long and hard before spending any money with a company like this. Virtually all of the various rebreather manufacturers are privately held and it will be next to impossible to gain access to hard data on their sales and market share unless they choose to release that information for some reason. Just because a 3rd party company claims to have access to this type of data, does not mean that it is even possible to obtain.

LOL. They list SEVERAL companies on there that have sold fewer rigs than us, Military AND Civilian, a company that doesn't even make rebreathers, and one I've never heard of... But Juergensen is no where to be found. Either I'm the biggest liar ever, or they're FOS... I will leave you guys to guess which one is which... (Hint: I own 2 Homes and an Airport...)... ;-)

It’s a trick question you cant ask to a European in open forum.
As we all know its both and at the same time, and that’s what we love about you lot.

The ability to sell snake oil to junk bonds, import junk from China and keep all of us in check
with the dollar. While at the same time deciding if its going to be Hillary or Donald for president
and all before you sit done to eat turkey, apart from one loney presidential pardoned turkey you don’t.

Now as for recreational rebreathers only the Americans on that list could claim something when they are not even close.

So please give us the numbers claimed for the American market so we can happily halve it.

Enjoy your Turkey and President.

Hey Iain - long time no chat! :-)

I have no idea how many units my American pals have sold, tbh.

But what I DO know, since I had to give testimony in 2010 to a Federal Judge when I was suing Carleton, is how many we sold up until that time. My lawyer advised me not to "pull this out of your butt" so I had to get my Accountant and my Lawyer involved. Including all variants of product we sell, which includes Hammerhead CCR's, Optima's Hammerhead for Inspo, KISS, Meg, Mark 15, etc, the number came to just over 2000. That is what I told Judge Arcara, and what he used in his Order granting us a P.I. (this = Winning, to the uninitiated in matters of Federal Law).

Surely, some Yank who sold 2000 units deserves to be on some Chinese "List" for sale, wouldn't you agree? I mean, to quote the President-Elect, we're YUGE... ;-)

Do you currently work for Divex? I heard you guys followed us in the FET in India last February (which we passed with flying colours, as you guys would say). Interspiro beat both of us on price, and Cobham didn't even participate. That was the biggest military tender since you guys won in the UK and Aus... Ahh well. That's what I get for thinking I can get rich in the Rebreather Biz... lol... Sure I'll see you guys again soon someplace. Maybe Bangladesh...

And my Turkey was amazing, thank you. I think there's still some in the fridge...

All the best,

Kevin.
