More about my SubGravity Reference RS powered by Bonex

In a post some where, someone was asking about this thing pulling a geared up tech diver through the lips at Ginnie Springs. I am extremely happy to announce that it passed the test with flying colors today. I had my rEvo on my back, AL80 BO sidemountedon my left, 8-5/8" diameter BOB sidemounted on my right, AL80 sidemounted on top of BOB, and towing another Reference RS. Even without being able to get optimum position of my baby and eating some of the prop wash, she still pulled me through with ease and without having to go full thrust.

Basically, my scooter can beat up your scooter.

3-1/2 hours later and using both References, neither one look shiney and new.

I have been having a great time putting hours on my Reference RS and must say that I am still adjusting to everything. One of the most awesome things that I was getting dialed in on yesterday was using the variable speed to a higher degree of accuracy. I was wreck diving and even with both bailouts side mounted decided to penetrate anywhere I could squeeze through. Using the Reference RS actually made it easier and cleaner to do. I was expecting a few "oh shit" silt moments, but none showed up. it was so nice to just dial down the speed, turn onto my side and slowly glide through the doorways with such ease and precision. I think it might be time to get a gopro mounted on it.

have you figured out what the actual battery specs are yet? They are certainly badass dpv's, I just wish they'd be more open to things like battery voltage and capacity.... No brainers that would really help to validate the claims they make on burn times...

No I do not know any actual battery specs. I have put enough time on a charge, a couple of times, to almost hit the max runtime and have not run out of juice yet. These runs were at or below cruise speed with a few bursts at full tilt boogie, so nothing scientific about it.

they're german, so I would like to believe their quoted specs, I just am still dumbfounded that they are trying to keep their battery specs secret

Why, Volkswagen is another german company, and look what they have been doing with their quoted diesel specs for the last 10 years.

Put a whats up meter inside a Bonex and run the scooter untill it stops running, then you'll know how much power the battery is capable of producing. Everything else is just so much BS.

VW isn't lying about their emissions when it's idling :-P

you can't put a wattsup in the bonex, it uses a weird connector that isn't available in the US. Called a Zp5 connector, but not one that I have been able to find commercially

Or get one of the Genesis Sentry monitors. Got one coming on my relpacement 1500. Cant wait!

except you can't, because of the ZP5 connectors on it.... Unless you want to splice the monitors in, which would obviously kill any warranty on the dpv...

also, the new suex system blows the Sentry out of the water, absolutely out of the water. Not universal, but huge push to the Suex. $200 over the Sentry and you get a full blown CCR dive computer that logs everything instead of the Sentry which just spits it out...

either way, will be nice to see if Bonex comes out with something this year since Suex released theirs

I guess maybe not for the bonex. I thought it was plug and play in line so as to work with any dpv. Perhaps a question for Jon. I for one am stoked for such tecnology. I push my 1500 hard and it's got a monster pack. I think the Sentry is a huge step forward for dpvs.

unfortunately it is simply outclassed by the Suex DRIVe system. It's great that it's universal, but Jon could have done a lot more with it in terms of logging and what not. Suex just uses the Seabear T1 so you get a full computer out of it, it just sends all the data wireless same as a WAI sensor.

Wish I could own them all but very happy with my 1500. All depends on what features mean the most. External charging. Magnetic prop. 100% variable speed. Magnetic self reset battery trip. I always back the innovators.

Old thread, but if your still wondering what the battery specs are.
I tore apart my battery pack in order to fly with it, what I found inside was a 12s8p li-ion pack made up of samsung 28e cells.
