Which unit are you using? rEvo has tested both and reported a slightly shorter recommended scrubber usage duration for the Intersorb brand (1:45 hr in cold water before rotation of the scrubber instead of 2 hrs for the Sofnolime brand).
I have no clue whether that can be transposed to another unit, but it would appear that they are very similar.
Some report batches that are more dusty than others, but I haven't noticed anything consistent (I have used both, depending on what my dive shop has in stock).
I haven't been able to feel any difference between the two as far as breathing (I hope that thread is not going to be hijacked by you know who).
Anyone have a preference out of these 2 ? Been using Intersorb 812 with no issues, works fine. Thought I might try the Sofnolime 812, just to try it.
Thoughts ?? Preferences ??
What's "Sofnolime 812"?
Do you mean Sofnolime 797?
Matt.
Sofnolime 797 (8-12 mesh) is cheaper over here in the States (although depends a little on the supplier). Intersorb is rumored to be a bit dustier but I have not tried it due to the slightly higher cost for me. This might have something to do with shipping distances and methods too.
I can get Intersorb for $125 (USD) a keg, Sofnolime is as high as $180.00. I don't notice any difference in cold Great Lakes waters. Out of the water, my wallet reminds me.
Whatever you spend on lime you're saving on gas to the dive site ;-)
I paid £65 for the last tub of lime in the UK, and Euro 120 in Croatia last week.

Where do you get your 797 from? I haven't looked around much. I pay about 150 US for it via AH or in a NoFlo cave shop. I've had some yucky Intersorb batches which seem to get my whole loop dusty with a gross, caustic mess. It was a while ago.

That would concern me a lot, How does the dust get past the scrims?
On my JJ & Inspo I used top and bottom scrim but on my KISS & revo just top as the bottom would often get wet and limit WOB. I used to get a white lining in my loop on the KISS when just using the mesh with no scrim but having used all sorts of sorb including the notoriously dusty Grace, I found the scrim fixed the issue.

I'm curious as well. Where are you getting those prices? Cheapest I've found is as everyone else said; Sofnolime at AH.
