er, I may have some bad news for you on that front. IMHO it doesn't get any better than being in your late 20's. after that the slippery slope to being old feels like it has an ever increasing gradient.

mid life crisis? moi?

You serious? I heard it just gets better....

Mid life crisis? If you have recently purchased:
a) Harley Davidson
b) jet ski
c) new hair
d) foreign mistress
... Then I have bad news for you Mike :p

It just keeps getting better for me as time goes by. Kids grown, grand kids to play with, more money more time to do as I please. Nice!!!!

By the way you know you're old when you stand at the urinal and a voice inside your head says," wait for it... Wait forrrrrr it". Of course this is something I have only heard about.

results so far confirm my suspicions about the ageing diving population (lets be fair and say you need a certain disposable income to get into rebreathers which normally involves having a good job or having paid off your mortgage so I would expect the members age range here to be skewed higher).

I started snorkelling as a kid and did my first 'proper' dive at he age of 17. average age of divers at the time seemed to be 20-30 with a few 'old boys' in their 40's. However whenever I look at a dive boat full of divers (even OC divers) I also see predominantly guys in their late 40's early 50's.

I seem to have dived with the same generation all my life, makes me wonder why don't younger people want to dive anymore or has the PADI model of hold my hand diving become the norm and I don't see them because that's not the type of diving I do?

How do we encourage the next generation? who am I going to sell all my kit to when I finally can't dive anymore?

I know plenty of people my age who have a $6,000 bike and buy new skis every year. They don't have tons of money but they have enough. We just need to get them to see diving as cool and extreme. Plus with skiing they can go jump off a cliff on their first day. Diving you have to have more experience to do things such as cave dive or wreck dive. They don't want to go through the learning curve.
