Compact Travel Case for a JJ-CCR

For the other readers - don't transport without something plugging both ends of can. For Hamish drop me a PM - I can probably get it sorted ...

Compact Travel Case for a JJ-CCR

It's easy to fix the deformed can ... Was the head in? Don't travel without the head in it is the best advice. I have done literally 100s of flights with Scubapro wheelie bags or samsonites and never had an issue (now jinxed myself) by wrapping the can in fins backplate and undersuit/wetsuit

    Suit inflation system

Well done … just like drysuit. But both of them need gas inside to function and do have extra volume should you need. but as per usual you miss the point jumping over yourself to tell me how superior you are to me the point is which would you rather lose suit or counterlung. And I think we...

    Suit inflation system

I think you gurus need to remember you can put gas in a counter lung … I’d be happier splitting wing and counterlung than putting those two together… but then I know it’s hard work to plug a hose back in when you’re hanging like Mary poppins on a bag. Work on the basics would be my advice

    DIL, bail, and MOD

Yawn ... are you really so insecure about your diving (probably due to your lack of experience) that you have to attack another configuration? Good luck doing a dil flush at 90m with a 3L, you keep smashing those v-shaped profiles mate

    DIL, bail, and MOD

the different DIL and Bailout PO2 is, IMHO, a classic case of not seeing the wood for the trees. The difference is inert gas uptake between 10 and 12% at 10bar (90m/300ft) is 2%... yet for PO2 is 20%. If you really believe that 2% more inert gas makes a difference in your deco I think you need...

I think you should get an instructor that understands how to set up a harness so you can get your head back.

    CCR Heliox, deco AIR

Why have 1.5x for buddy and rule 1/3 for bailout ... bailout should be a rare event you don't have to have two additional levels of contingency - just plan for what you need? Who is teaching deep ccr in Hong Kong these days?

    CCR Heliox, deco AIR

A sorry - looks like a horrible plan … air is a rubbish deco gas - why carry 2x9L? Oxygen is also rubbish ie you have to wait till 6 to get on it and most of your deco is done by then. some models will give an advantage switching to nitrox from helium … bit appears to be purely theoretical...

    JJ mccr??

Wibs - suggest you read up on your automatic cars knowledge https://www.edmunds.com/fuel-economy/five-myths-about-stick-shifts.html. Kinda like the myths about CCR diving "I want to be in control of my PO2 and the only way to do it is mCCR". I dived a full manual CCR (Mk15 and Mk15.5 with...

    JJ mccr??

Thats like sky diving using your back up as your main parachute :D I'd rather leave the solenoid and controller to do its job ... if you don't pay attention on a CCR you're dicing with death in either (any) case - I'd rather use my active capacity to notice there's a problem rather than using it...

    JJ mccr??

More than 20 years of experience with eCCRs and I don't share your dislike of them - ultimately both you as controller or the computer as the controller are dependent on the electronics of the cells and displays and I'd prefer a computer to do routine simple things which they are good at not a...

Gas flow lag/restrictions when using BOV under heavy OC conditions

Your risk analysis is completely different to mine. I am not worried even slightly about entanglement (and I have done a lot of diving in areas prone to lost /discarded fishing equipment) - I like my rig to be as simple as possible, at stressful times i want easy decisions not complexity. Each...

Gas flow lag/restrictions when using BOV under heavy OC conditions

I really can't understand why you would need so many ways to get gas into the loop. JJ O2 MAV works pretty much as pefectly as you could ever want - put an inflator hose on your off board O2 and you're good to go. If you really want you could put inflators on deep gas also but in reality a...

Gas flow lag/restrictions when using BOV under heavy OC conditions

38 photos spanning 2011-2019 ... that is an active community right there. There must be as many as 1 or 2 units out there in the wild - way to go! APOC and the AD snake oil sales company continues on at full speed! If anybody is reading this thread and actually is considering what Brad AKA...

Gas flow lag/restrictions when using BOV under heavy OC conditions

Hello Alex I think its important to say that your rebreather is still an imaginary rebreather despite your best efforts to wow us with PDFs - if you want to send me your BOV for real world testing (rather than the likely imaginary test results you post here) please let me know here! Graham

Gas flow lag/restrictions when using BOV under heavy OC conditions

I have tried and owned both shrimp and ibov and they both breath terribly compared to a normal second stage - and thats with them plumbed straight to a hose. So much so, that I think I am going from neutral on the BOV/DSV debate to proDSV ...
