    PLB Canister Recommendations

Don't believe the 150m claims made by those selling the HDV SeaTek cannister http://hdvseatek.com/ . I tested one to 100m and the upper dome crushed inward. It didn't leak but clearly no good for 150m The manufacturer was contacted and the said they have revised the rating to 70m.

    Rob Stewart missing

A donkey fart can seem like a breath of fresh air if you're living in a vacuum. Being the only example of something may speak volumes about many things but not its veracity. As to it's popularity, I only need point you to a top ten of any countries music charts to point out the silliness of...

    Santi options for Drysuits

Well perhaps your lack of problems is due to your willingness to perform maintenance more than most. I think the problems do stem primarily from the larger surface area that the low profile dump has to seal. Larger surface area, more prone to getting debris etc in the seal. If you're not the...

    Santi options for Drysuits

Ok so one source maybe dubious. But I repair drysuits as a profession so see a few. Apeks low profile dumps have more problems than either high profile Apeks or the SiTech dumps. This is opinion based on quite a bit of observation across many different divers.

    Santi options for Drysuits

I believe they have now moved to BDM/YKK for the plastic zip. A far better product than the TiZip.

    Verdict in Wes Skiles case.

The etymological meaning of hypocrisy is to play a part, he does that thoroughly. His countryman, David Hume, did a brilliant job of describing his character, two and a half centuries ago: "...starts off sincerely believing in his professions, in his sanctity, but he has the ordinary passions...

    Santi options for Drysuits

I only have one strong opinion on any of this. If you want a dump valve that will be reliable go with the apeks high profile. I'm not saying any of the others are crap, just that in my experience the HP Apeks is the most reliable. Not an enormous difference in profile either.

Two Finnish divers died at Plura

I saw this doco last week here in Wellington NZ. Very well made and does a great job of expressing the humanity of those involved. The sort of friends we can all hope for.

Wanted Wanted: Drysuit inflation valve with E/O for heating

I would agree that the Apeks inflator is better than the Sitech and that the high profile Apeks dump is rock solid. But the low profile Apeks is a POS imho, just so prone to leaking. I'd much prefer to have the Sitech dump than the LP Apeks.

To bov or not to bov? That is my question

Scrubber breakthrough is not the only likely culprit for CO2 hit. malfunctioning DSV/BOV one way valves and over exertion are two others. Get one or don't get one it's up to you. Many will say you must have one, some will say they're not really needed. I don't think there's conclusive evidence...
