Yeah, I guess the ocean works the same way as here. It just don't listen to commands about staying calm. Kind of like my kids. And my initial problem was to go diving all days my last week, by I changed that plan to dive in the weekend for all weeks instead, then it fits the dive centers...

Hmm... After some more thinking, my tired brain concluded that I'm right but that the effect would be very small. And also the analogy of the football is invalid, because the whole effect would be due to that more gas would be pulled down at shallower depth.

Does a BOV always have worse performance (WOB) than a regular 2nd stage? If yes, why? If no, why do the BOV's I've seen perform worse?

I wouldn't go so far calling it a religion. No wars have been started over deco models ;) But you're right, both models predict DCS by estimating indirect factors for the bubble causing the DCS. Content models by the driver (amount of solved gas) for bubble growth, and bubble models by...

Well, actually it does. There is a factor "conservatism" to set. At least in the implenentation in the software I use. But the point is that the models are pretty uncertain, you might get bent using them. So it is wise to add some extra safety to your deco, in case you'd like to have a low risk...

Makes sence when I think about it. Especially if you only need one bailout tank. Then you'd want to have something that gets you out of the water fast. If tou need several tank, then you can have lower pO2 on your first tank, and a better deco gas in your second.

What ia the benefit of 1.6? I suppose you might reduce some deco. But if you are bailing out due to high pO2 in the loop, it'd be nice to get the pO2 down. Are there other benefits?

@You guys who have long experience of bailouts: Do you think the units of today have less risk of electronic failure, loop flood etc., compared to 10 years ago?
