Where do you pack your backplate Dave? I'm trying your breakdown into my suitcases here and am struggling to get it all in.

I'm flying to the UK with Singapore airlines, but back with Malaysia airlines. Both charge ~60 AUD per extra kg.
Singapore charge you only for 6kg of weight, for up to 15kg of scuba gear, where as Malaysia airlines give you another 10kg free for scuba equipment. Looks like I'm back to the carry as much on as possible plan, but it's not looking promising! |

Ask them how much for an extra bag?
This is different than a heavier bag I would be surprised if it's more than 50 for an extra 23kg bag Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2 |

There is no such thing as an extra bag with either airline. You have 20kg regardless of hoe many bags. 40 x 0.5kg bags would be acceptable!

Looks right - Singapore offer 15kg for 6kg charge @ $50/kg so $600 return from the UK. Australia is cheaper at $22/kg so $264.Sent from my HTC Desire S using Tapatalk 2 I normally travel with BA who let you have an extra 23kg bag for £34 (£68) return. Matt. |

That's not good. I normally travel to the US rather than other places and haven't come across the weight policy. Last time Qantas charged 50 for an extra bag.
United charged similar prices as well. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2 |

Travel to/from the US is still on the piece-concept. Singapore charge between $100-150 per extra piece up to 23kg and $300-450 per piece up to 32kg.United charged similar prices as well. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2 They do not offer a free piece for sport equipment, or even a discounted one for US routing. Matt. |
